Despite saying New York would be my last marathon, I'm afraid to say that once again I will be putting my body (both mentally and physically) through the joys of another marathon (what can I say, I just can't help myself). So on the 25th September I will be psyching myself up to take part in the Berlin marathon
Apart from completing the 26 mile course, of all the aches and pains suffered and trying to find spare energy to keep me going, both London and New York marathons were amazing experiences, but was made even better by raising money at the same time.
The Stroke Association is a charity that’s very personal to me and my family. I lost my dad 13 years ago to a stroke. This marathon will give me the chance to raise money to help other people affected by strokes, and to run in Berlin in memory of someone who I dearly love and miss.
Every year, an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke; that’s one person every five minutes. Stroke is the leading cause of severe disability and the third biggest killer in the UK, after cancer and heart disease. More than 250,000 people in the UK live with disabilities caused by a stroke – and The Stroke Association is the only charity solely concerned with preventing stroke and ensuring that everyone affected by a stroke gets the help they need.
Thanks to everyone who donated for the London and New York events, nearly £3,000 was raised. I’d love it if you could donate something, even if it’s just a pound and fingers crossed I can raise some more for The Stroke Association.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you so much.
