My story

I have just recently finished the sponsored hitch hike to Morocco ! Along with two of my university colleagues we successfully went through the whole of France and Spain, taking us 5 days (and yes that means that‘s 5 days without shower – how disgusting that may sound, I can’t stress enough how much we sacrificed for the whole thing lol).

We had a total of 16 rides, 3 lorry rides and other wonderful concerned citizens of England, France and Spain in normal cars (although we also had some Portuguese and Dutch travellers). Fortunately they were all very nice and we do hope to send them postcards and photos when we get them printed !

We had to sleep in the streets of France (twice), as we were dropped off in the most awkward places, where there is not one decent hostel to stay in or if ever there is, we’d think it is expensive. (remember, we’re still only students, we’ll live off in the worst conditions if possible to save money for later hedonistic indulgences)

I now feel more confident with my language skills.. although still very basic and pathetic ! It made everyone wish that they have paid more attention to their French GCSEs (and Spanish too if they had one)

Getting to Morocco was one of the best feelings ever. We were relieved and at the same time felt kinda sad that the journey was over. Little did we realise at that moment that we were about to start on a new one – a tad bit different than the journey across France and Spain but it was still a rollercoaster journey.

Meeting new people and learning something new about myself and my friends are my favourite part and of course thinking about the fact that we are doing this to help children in disadvantaged places and situations, where EVERY PENNY HELPS ! YOU CAN ALSO MAKE A DIFFERENCE…

…proceeds are used to train teachers, improve learning facilities, building classrooms and buying basics for learning.

Education is the key to make the world a better place, unfortunately in some places education is a luxury and not everyone have the same access and chance to learn. What are you going to do about it?
