Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In January 2009 I will have moved into my second half century of life and have taken up running to improve my health and well-being. My aim this year is to run a half marathon in October 2009. In my efforts to reach this personal goal I will be running various races throughout the year.
On my way to reaching my goal I decided to try to do something that can help others gain a better quality of life and have choosen to support Spinal Research - http://www.spinal-research.org - as my charity for 2009.
I have a friend of more than 20 years who sustained a spinal injury when she was young. The effects did not become apparent until she was in her 30s when she began to develop problems with lack of sensation in her hands and legs. Leading to more extreme mobility problems over time.
Having listened to her as she has gone through her journey dealing with the impact on her body, life and mobility, I have developed appreciation for what Spinal Research are aiming to do for people.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Spinal Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
As this is new to me, my target for the year is quite conservative, but your donation, however small could make a huge difference in the lives of many people who have suffered spinal injury.
Thanks for reading this and hopefully for giving your support.
Jenny
