The Lavender Trust raises money specifically to fund Breast Cancer Care's innovative range of information and support services for younger women. Being diagnosed at a young age can be very isolating, and younger women often have specific concerns; services include publications, telephone and web-based support.

My story

HMS SOMERSET sailed on 18 February 2009 for a five month deployment to the Far East, returning to our home base of Devonport on 3 August 2009.

On 1 August 2009, the sailors of HMS SOMERSET are running a 5 Km "Race for Life" in support of young women in the UK who are fighting, and in memory of the loved ones we have lost to, breast cancer.

Most of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Each year, 8000 women under the age of 50 are diagnosed with breast cancer, and the Lavender Trust is still the only fund in the UK dedicated to addressing their particular needs and concerns.

This is our chance to help to support the vital ongoing services that are required by those women who are battling this disease.

All donations, whatever size, really do make a difference. Just remember, your money goes directly towards providing these essential services.
