Hi, thanks for coming to our fund rasing page. As the name of our page suggests, we've decided to do a sky dive together, rather stupidly some might say, but not us 'cos we're brave (tremble, tremble, shake, shake)!!! It's something we've both always wanted to do and so what better way to do it than doing it together and raising money for charity at the same time. We're doing a tandom sky dive so we'll be strapped to someone who actually knows what they're doing (fingers crossed) - I bet we'll be 10,000 feet up arguing about who gets to go with the good looking instructor!!
The charity we're raising money for is Jo's Trust, which is the only UK charity dedicated to women, their family and friends who have been affected by cervical cancer and pre-cancer. The charity is a life line to very many women living through one of the most difficult, confusing and frightening times of their life. They provide easily accessed ‘good’ information, support and confidential medical advice free of charge 24 hours a day through their website, http://www.jotrust.co.uk/.
We're all set to go on Sunday 30th August, so we've started the count down!! We're paying for the jump ourselves so every bit of your sponsorship money goes to Jo's Trust, so anything you can spare, no matter how little will help. Thank you so much for your support, it really does mean a lot to both of us and to everyone at Jo's.
JENNY C: Well what a year it's been!! On the 1st August 2008 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and started a very unexpected new journey in my life. Thankfully, after 12 weeks of treatment I was given the all clear in April but the long term effects of the treatment will never go and this is what I still struggle with the most. Despite all the upheaval I've still found plenty to laugh and smile about and plenty to be grateful for. Many women are going through the same things as I am and worse, and sadly some don't make it.
So - at the beginning of the year I decided I wanted to do something to raise money for charity and as I've always wanted to do a sky dive this seemed like the perfect time to do it! I figured that if I can face cancer, throwing myself out of a plane from goodness knows how high up should be a doddle!!! Let's hope I'm right!!! My family and friends have all been amazing in supporting me over the past year and more than ever now I know just how lucky I am. The thing that will make doing this jump even more special for me is doing it with Jenny W. When I told her about it she said straight away she wanted to do it with me and to help me raise money for Jo's Trust and we've been planning this together ever since. It means the world to me to be doing this with her, you're one in a million Jen, thank you so much!!
Jen W: So you all know us and most of you wont be surprised that we are being a bit mental jumping out of a perfectly good plane but we were promised that being strapped to a bloke was included!! On the serious side this is for a great charity who has helped so many and more importantly our Jenny over the past year. For me to see one of my closest friends go through all of this and still be strong, brave and beautiful through it all, the least I can do is jump for Jo's trust and to do it for my Jenny! Not only have I always wanted to do this but I wouldn't want to do it with or for anyone else.
So please dig deep and donate now!
