My story

After 45 years away I am returning to Kathmandu. In celebration of my 55th birthday I shall treat myself to a little trek followed by the Everest Marathon on 4th December. Such self-indulgence (and my 10th standard marathon) should not pass without my quinquennial request for funds to deserving charities. This is one of the two charities I am soliciting for this time. The other is the Kings World Trust for Children for which you may have been kind enough to sponsor me on the occasion of my 45th (London Marathon) and 50th (Comrades Marathon) birthday celebrations.

As usual I am paying all my costs to have this holiday and everything you give (and I will too) will go to the charities. Note that there is no obligation on me (or you) to raise any money for charities - it's just something that's nice to do. This JustGiving page enables me, and I have decided, to withhold the amount of your generosity from public scrutiny!

Incidentally the picture was taken in February 2009, the day before we went up Volcan Licancabur (5920m, in the background) on the Bolivian-Chile border.

There's a little bit more info at www.btinternet.com/~wilde/55th.htm
