Story
I did it! And nearly an hour faster than the Down Run last year in 2005 (official time 11h48m), this year I got a Bronze medal (and my back-to-back medal) for the Up Run in official time 10h50m.
The Comrades marathon (www.comrades.co.za) is a rather long marathon at 55 miles - in fact more than twice the length of a standard marathon. It has a 12 hour cut-off, and in 2005 it took me nearly all that time; I cut it a bit fine. I persuaded many people to help me raise shedloads of money for charity for that effort, and therefore I am not doing major fundraising again this year for the Up Run.
However there are a few people here and there who still offer me charity sponsorship, so this modest page is available to raise a bit more for Starfish.
Thank you for your support for me and Starfish. The Starfish kids lining the route were thrilled when runners went past sporting their colours, knowing we were helping their cause. And they gave us a huge boost with their eruptions of cheers for us.
Those shorts were worth a lot of support too!!
