Childbed fever is an infection of the womb in new mothers which can lead to
septicaemia.
Infections are rare, but they can happen to anybody, and can be fatal: 14%
of maternal deaths in the UK are due to septicaemia.
Jessica's Trust would like every parent, every midwife and doctor to know
that childbed fever (also called puerperal fever or puerperal sepsis) is
still a very real threat to a mother's life and to know how to recognise the
symptoms.
