Hello, Joy, rapture - completed, success! I am happy to say that I have completed the triathlon and actually quite enjoyed the experience. Thank you very much for the sponsorship, and for those yet to donate, any amount would be much appreciated. I thought the swim would have been the most enjoyable, but it was actually the least so, the cycle was quite long and hard but despite my chain coming off I got round OK in a reasonable time (I was glad not to have a puncture or a crash - several of which I saw). The run was the pleasant part, on dry land and on my own two feet, not much could have gone wrong and thankfully nothing did. Special mention to the supporters who were there cheering me on, it made a massive difference. I took up the challenge having once weighed 17 stone (108kg, 240lb) and been unable to walk for 6 months due to injury, I am finally making it back to full fitness - I thought I'd prove it by completing my first Olympic distance Triathlon: 1.5km of swimming in the murky Thames, followed swiftly by 40km of cycling followed (probably not so swiftly) by a 10km run, all whilst surrounded by 12,000 other competitors in the city of London. It is the worlds biggest triathlon and will be a gruelling endurance event. For some landmine victims, crutches last the rest of their lives. Please take a couple of minutes of your time to make a small donation to a good cause, £5 or £10 (or more) would be fantastic but any amount will be gratefully received. I am doing the triathlon on behalf of No More Landmines. Despite the Ottawa convention, there are still millions of landmines around the world, that are as effective in maiming and injuring today as when they were laid, some longer than 25 years ago. No More Landmines is a charity which works in many countries around the world by removing the threat of landmines and unexploded weapons. A couple of minutes of your time to make a small donation online would be much appreciated, any amount would be very gratefully received. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The No More Landmines Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! Many thanks Joceran Gichuke
