In August 2006, I successfully underwent major heart surgery in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. Since then I have embarked on a stay healthy programme and subsequently purchased a bicycle and set about training activity to achieve a reasonable level of fitness.
I entered the North Down Borough Council “Ards Peninsula Cycle Challenge” in June 2008. This was a 100km challenge, which I successfully completed despite cycling the complete distance against the wind and driving rain. In this effort I raised in excess of £1,000 for the NI Chest, Heart & Stroke Association. Many thanks to the giving and generosity of family, business colleagues and friends.
In July this year, I will be participating in the London to Paris Bike Ride 2009.
The Charity I have chosen is ‘Medecins du Monde UK” and the funds I raise will help make health a human right.
Medecins du Monde is primarily involved in long-term health-care projects and provides emergency aid in over 50 countries. It is an International Humanitarian Aid organisation (NGO) whose medical and non-medical volunteers provide health care for vulnerable populations around the world who cannot access healthcare.
This will be a massive challenge for me and I hope you can help support my fundraising efforts for this adventurous bike ride.
You can kindly sponsor my efforts by logging on to www.justgiving.com/jimcyclingtofrance my target end date is the end of May '09
Thank you
Best regards
