I have done a 60 mile bike ride, held a quiz night and a race night, held charity raffles, sold my possessions at a car boot sale and I have rattled buckets in the City of London and there are more activities to come.
I am raising money for my participation in the first international public service project of the Junior Lawyers Division of England & Wales. I have been working on this project for the last 8 months after I lost my job so it is a project close to my heart and has been keeping me going through the recession!
The project is a 16 day expedition either to build a gravity feed water system about 3-6 hours from Kota Kinabalu.
After completion of the project itself, we will meet with local junior lawyers from the Sabah Law Association and have discussion with them about the Rule of Law and Legal Ethics. This is a community and legal outreach project which has never been done before and I have never been this far away from home, my cell, my ipod, my laptop etc...
Any money raised will go towards my participation in the buiding of this project - which will help change lives in rural Borneo. Raleigh International also run conservation projects, as well as projects which enrich the lives of those in the third world, which your support will help to fund. In addition, elements of the funding go to help disadvantaged children in the UK. This is a great cause and one which I proud to be a part of and that the JLD is delighted to support.
