Thank you for visiting this fundraising page. I was talked (thanks Jan!) into a 4 day row from near the source of the Thames at Lechlade to near the last (or first lock) at Richmond. The row should be in a massive, old and very heavy 8 oared fixed seat boat, so it will be slow and painful. I am rather unfit so obviously this sounded like an excellent idea. I am hoping that the blisters from my training row (not on my hands) will have healed by the end of the month.
A dear friend Bruce benefited from the work done by Odyssey. Odyssey was established in 1994 to offer a unique form of ‘therapy’ for adult cancer patients, and is still the only organisation providing anything similar for this group of people. Odyssey helps adults with cancer to combat the psychological devastation they experience and to restore to them a sense of control. This is achieved through five day outdoor programmes to help them meet challenges and regain a zest for life. Activities may include canoeing, sailing on a barge, abseiling, etc and participants also have opportunities to express themselves through art and music. We constantly check the effectiveness of what we do and the results are very positive. From its inception Odyssey operated three courses a year in for nine years, then, in response to demand, expanded to the West Midlands/Wales in 2004 and to Scotland in 2007, making it a truly national undertaking. Participants are not required to pay anything for the course as the Trustees are adamant that no-one shoud be precluded from attending on financial grounds.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Odyssey gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now!
