The Reason For The Walk
25 years ago almost to the day, I was diagnosed with a Giant Cell tumor in my left femur. Your life and that of your family changes in a split second. I spent both my 35th and 36th birthdays in hospital. To date I have undergone 9 operations but and it is a huge BUT, I still have two of my own legs. If the diagnosis had been two years earlier and it could well have been "Chop!" and an artificial limb. My leg was saved by the miracle of modern science and medicine and brilliant people who dedicate their working lives to pushing boundries in order to heal us.
Through misfortune I have been on the receiving end of this truly amazing work and now, if I can stay upright (it's an in joke) I may not have to undergo any more operations on that leg. I cannot begin to tell you what that means to me and my family. I feel I have been very lucky.
On this 25th Anniversary of "The Leg" and on my 60th birthday I want to raise funds for the SCAT Bone Cancer trust . It is my way of saying "Thank You" Please look at the Charity website . You can see there how this charity supports and changes lives.
I would be unbelievably greatful for your support.
