FREDERICKS FOUNDATION NAMIBIA DESERT CHALLENGE
100KM TREK FOR WOMEN 18TH - 25TH SEPTEMBER 2009
I am going to be trekking in the remote Damaraland in the north west of Namibia. I will be doing this with my friend, Kate McCullagh, in a party of 30 women. We will be covering about 20-25km a day in soaring temperatures. It will be both a physical and mental challenge - walking in the heat across tricky terrain, and with the possibility of coming face to face with the odd rhino or lion!
I have chosen to raise money for the Fredericks Foundation as I feel it is a particularly relevant charity to support in this current economic climate. The Fredericks Foundation provides resources in the form of financial loans and business mentoring to help less able individuals (such as ex-convicts, disabled, single parents) become economically independent and enable them to set up their own business.
I am very excited about the challenge but a little nervous about the gruelling training schedule ahead!
I hope you are able to sponsor me!
