Thank you for visiting one of MAKE's fundraising pages.
I have just returned (30 Nov) from a week in South Africa, with a team of colleagues and consultants, to help with building works at Newtonville Primary School in the Kwa Zulu-Natal region. Our 'COMMUNITY CHALLENGE' in the area involved restoring two derelict classrooms, installing a 'sonke' (playground), washrooms and new netball posts. As well as the building work we spent time playing with the school children from the surrounding poor, remote community.
The project was organised with The One Foundation. The One Foundation build unique PlayPump® water systems in Africa which improve lives by providing free, clean water in rural communities. The school we worked at have recently had a water pump installed, which we used as our water supply on site last week (we even carried the water in buckets on our head, though half of my first bucket ended up down my tshirt!)
The work done by the charities on the ground in South Africa makes a huge difference to remote areas. Our project was the first Community Challenge of its kind - here's hoping there will be many more....If you could please spare some money to donate to this worthy charity that would be fantastic!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
