Dear all,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am getting married at the end of this summer. As all of you can probably guess, the one person that you would really want to be there on your special day is your mum. My mum won't be with me physically on this special day because she died of AIDS nearly 10 years ago, when I was still a teenager.
Although I miss her every day, I don't want to be sad about this. Instead, I want to honour her memory in a way that would have made her proud. I have always wanted to run a marathon, however, because of an old injury I wouldn't be able to complete over 40km in one go.
So instead, I have decided to run four 10km races this summer and raise money for Body and Soul, a London based charity that supports families living with or closely affected by HIV. The reason I have chosen Body and Soul is because I was very moved by the way they support children and teenagers, by equipping them with the skills, information and confidence they need to respond to the challenges they face, something that I know I would have found invaluable when my mum passed away. Their office and the centre they have created in the heart of London is just the place I wish I could have been able to go to back then: a place that does not remind you of sad times, but on the contrary, encourages you to look positively at the future.
Please help me honour the memory of my mum and help this charity which I believe is doing an amzing job improving these families' lives.
Every penny you donate through this website goes straight to Body and Soul, making it a safe and sure way to donate to an great cause!
Thank you in advance for your support!
Johanna
