Story
So, this year it's my turn to brave the North Norfolk elements ...
If all goes to plan, on Saturday the 26th June, I will be :
Swimming - 1 mile in North sea
Kayaking - 4km on North sea
Biking - 40 miles of coastal country lanes
Running - 7 miles along beach, dunes and mud flats.
My main aim is to survive, but ideally to complete the race in under 5 and a half hours. Most of you know that pre-2009 I spent my life in the Park Club cafe - sipping lattes or rose and avoiding the gym at all costs. However things have been a little different this year and I've been sporting the lycra, having swimming lessons (!) and actually breaking into a sweat.
If you are kind enough to sponsor me, then your generosity will be greatly appreciated by The Daisy Garland charity which does an amazing job of helping children with epilepsy.
I promise that this is the only time I will be asking for your support as I can't see myself doing anything like this again! Thank you thank you thank you.
Oh - I forgot to mention that the final nail in the coffin is that everyone has to complete the race with a "partner "- which I think I took too literally - as Toby is my partner. Interestingly, he wasn't my first choice (for the race) - nor I his - but clearly it was meant to be.... A form of marraige therapy it certainly is, as we now love a good chat about porridge, energy gels, heartrates and the all important technique. Sexy!
