My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

In March 2010 the British entertainerJoe Longthorne was presented with a prestigious Silver Heart award by the Variety Club of Great Britain at a ceremony in Blackpool. Unselfishly, Joe decided to donate the award to the DCWC Nepal charity who subsequently auctioned the silver heart on E Bay to raise much needed funds.

DCWC  Nepal, one of Joe's chosen charities, work tirelessly to help the people of Nepal who are in need and by world standards are very poor, the national wage being approx £165. DCWC's  priorities are healthcare, education and providing relief to the people in times of need. There is currently a massive project going on in the Kavre region to build a hospital and you will find a few photos on this page. This is a huge project and needs every penny raised in fundraising.

The sale of Joe's award raised £920.00 and it is the aims and hopes of the "Official Joe Longthorne Friendship Club"  to back up the sale of the award and the wonderful gesture on Joe's part, by raising at least £920.00 ourselves and doubling the amount raised.

In June 2010, it was announced at the Annual DCWC's ball that  Joe has become a patron of the charity and we intend to carry on campaigning and supporting his efforts where ever and whenever possible to help raise funds.

We will be happy to provide further details to anyone interested and can only thank you for visiting this page
