ING New York Marathon 2009 · 1 November 2009 ·

We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

Lovely, generous people:

After 15 months of New York nightlife, and 7 years of doing not very much in the way of sport, I felt the time had come to get back in the game.  The sensible option would probably have been to start playing football regularly again; instead I’ve signed up to run the NYC marathon – 26.2 miles of sheer, unadulterated bliss. Or something. Training is going…….well, it’s going. Training camps in LA, Las Vegas, Chicago and NYC itself have funnily enough turned out to be nothing of the kind, only making the task harder. Hopefully it all comes together on the day.

Anyway, to the point: all this fun is for a wonderful, worthy cause – Bowel Cancer UK. My grandmother passed away earlier in the year due to bowel cancer, and I will be running the marathon in her memory. Please give generously and you will earn my eternal gratitude. You’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing I can’t pull out.
Thank you so much

Joe
