Help me run the London Marathon and reach my goal of raising more than £1,600 for an excellent cause!
Update 23 April (two days to Marathon Day - training complete!):
Miles run in training: 401
Minutes of running in training: 3,596
I'm back in the London Marathon this year, and have chosen to run again for Crisis.
As you might know I'm one of the thousands that volunteer to help the charity provide support to the vulnerable and homeless every Christmas, and throughout the year. But Crisis doesn't only open at Christmas: it provides year-round services including employment, education, housing and health support for single homeless people in London and beyond. And homelessness isn't just about sleeping on the street - it's estimated that more than 400,000 'hidden homeless' living transient lives in places such as hostels and refuges, B&Bs, squats or on the floors of friends and families, all of whom need help finding their way to living somewhere safe and stable. Your donation will help them towards a place they can call home.
It's a charity that's close to my heart and I've seen its outstanding work in action (for example you can read an article in the Times about the centre at which I worked last year here). If you wish, I'll gladly tell you more!
Now that I know what's involved in finishing the race I know just what a challenge it's going to be, but I'm looking forward to trying to beat 4h30 and raise even more than the £1,600 donated in 2008 for Crisis. You can read a bit about my experience in that race here.
Twenty six miles is a very long way, and your support will be a tremendous motivation... Thank you for your donation. It'll make a real difference, to me and hundreds of homeless people across the UK.
Joel
