Story

Hello and welcome to my fundraising page.

Firstly a shocking statistic.

Nearly every minute, a woman dies of pregnancy related complications.

With this in mind, I am taking part in a trek in the Himalayas in India with a group of like minded people to support the work of The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. Together with Charity Challenge we are hoping to raise both awareness and funds for this charity that champions the voice of women and girls to ensure safe motherhood especially in countries with less access to good healthcare.

As a woman and a mother I join with others to speak out against the needless deaths of women in pregnancy and childbirth around the world.

This trek will be a challenge both physically and mentally and whilst it is an opportunity of a lifetime it is also an opportunity to reflect on our own good fortune and share solidarity with those who have faced greater challenges.

I am fortunate to be supported by some wonderful friends found through Twitter and whose logo's I shall be wearing. They are the lovely people at Swiggies UK http://www.swiggiesuk.com/ , Albmaleaf muscle gel http://www.albmaleaf.co.uk/ and GoOutdoors http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/ who are supplying fleeces and base layers.

So please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

White Ribbon Alliance UK prioritises the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people, but with a focus on those who face the most significant disadvantage in sexual and reproductive health outcomes. We recognise that women, gender diverse people and girls have been marginalised significantly and that the voices of those who have faced adversity are those that we should prioritise in our work.
