UPDATE - having done the GNR this w'end is the GSR & I've been nursing sciatica in my best leg for a couple of weeks - undaunted we will run for DELTA so please suport this so worthy charity.
Having just got back from the Summer Schools I am even more convinced of the worth of the work that DELTA does - here's a snippet from an email received from a parent of a deaf toddler this year.
"I just wanted to drop you a quick email to say that we thought the Summer School was fantastic, we were so glad that we came along. The effort put in by you all, the volunteer helpers & the speakers was tremendous, we learned a lot and felt very inspired, I wish we had come sooner!!! I think we all came away thinking that we would like to give something back, maybe volunteering as a helper at some stage!!! We've joined Delta now and are thinking about how we can raise some funds for you guys . . . . . "
The Natural Aural Approach works, it's not easy, but listening to wonderful, profoundly deaf teens and twenties standing in front of a crowd of parents telling their own story in a clear voice, some even with a regional accent! It's incredible.
