Well folks I made it and as you can see from the total above - well worth it thanks to your generosity ! A finishing time of 4.23 was respectable enough however I was a bit peaved that the Pink Panther just overtook me on the line. If I hadn't stopped for that half pint at the 21 mile stage I would have thrashed him but by that time the I'd had enough of lucozade and jelly babies !! A huge thanks to you all and to the London crowds who seemed as bemused by a kilted runner as they were by the masai warriors. I wonder what "och aye the noo! " is in Masai languauge as that seemed to be the catchphrase for the afternoon ! We should reach an amazing £8,000 with AMEC's contribution and the Gift Aid benefit - I'll continue to update the site with news of the final total and how it is to be spent. thanks again jb PS: Why was I attempting an Al Jolson impersonation after 26 miles ? - answers on a postcard pleae to............. !! PSS: - they're gloves !! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Yes, I've decided to run the London Marathon again (I know I'm a glutton for punishment) on April 13th to raise money for ASIRUS - Asthma Support In Rural Scotland and specifically for a recent ASIRUS initiative called Project County Air which aims to establish a Neubuliser bank for use by patients and organizations in rural Scotland who cannot afford these machines. Nebulisers are electronic machines which deliver the drugs deep into the patients lungs when normal inhalers can't do the job. If you want more details on ASIRUS then their website is http://www.radisol.com/asirus/
At least 50% of any funds raised will go towards this initiative with the remainder going to local good causes which will be decided by the ASIRUS committee - one of which will be VSA - Voluntary Support Aberdeen.
I appreciate you taking the time to view this page and if you are able to make a donation then it will be very much appreciated by me, ASIRUS and more importantly by those who will directly benefit.
All of the money raised ( travel and accommodation expenses will not be deducted) will go directly to the charities and for every £1 donated, my company AMEC will double that amount;. This in fact means in effect that for every £1 you sponsor me £2.28 including Gift Aid will go to the charities concerned. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Asirus will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
If you know of any friends or family who may also be interested in sponsoring me then please forward my email link
Many thanks for your support. PS: QUICK UPDATE - I'M RUNNING IT IN A KILT !!!!!!! JB
