Hi everyone

I have tried to email/phone all of you who were so generous in sponsoring me. I completed the ride on Monday 23rd August - we went early because of the weather.

I set off from Albertville at 0645 and arrived at the top of the Col D'Iseran at 1400 - I was very tired, very pleased and most of all, very relieved - the weight of over £2000 in sponsorship was weighing heavily by then!

Fifi was wonderful in helping by driving up and down the route feeding and watering me all day.

I have put some photos on this page if you want confirmation of my suffering!

Thanks again to all of you - I had no idea I would raise so much money.

John and Fiona

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On August 25 I am cycling from Albertville at the foot of the French Alps to the highest paved mountain pass in Europe, the Col D'Iseran. This is only 100 kilometres on the road but a climb of 2470 metres - in old money - 8150 feet!

Until 3 months ago I had never ridden a road bike and whilst training in the Purbecks is picturesque, I know (and I hope you can imagine) how hard this ride will be - all in one day.

I am raising money for the Cicely Foundation - a charity for deprived, vulnerable and needy children which supports a range of charitable organisations in the UK and overseas.

All donations will then be generously matched by the Cicely Foundation and the total will go to the YOUTH CANCER TRUST a wonderful charity which provides free activity based holidays in Bournemouth for young people from 14 to 30 suffering from cancer. Put simply, YCT provides a safe place where young cancer patients from anywhere in the UK or Irish Republic can be together to enjoy a fun time away from hospital - all year round.

This means that for every £25 donated - over £50 will go to the Youth Cancer Trust.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now - you KNOW that I am going to suffer!

Thanks very much for your help and generosity !!
