Gwenno Ford is raising money for Meningitis Research Foundation
Story
It was only when (our son) Dylan’s leg started twitching and we weren’t able to wake him up that we knew something was wrong. We rushed him down to our Doctors’ surgery. The next hour was a complete blur as Doctors came out of their respective rooms to see our son, administer Penicillin and call the ambulance. Dylan was rushed to our nearest hospital where a team of doctors hooked him up on a machine and pumped more drugs into him.
I’ll never forget being told that they did not know whether he was going to regain consciousness and even if he was to whether he would have brain damage or not. Thankfully he made a full recovery and, after spending his 1st birthday in hospital, he was home within a week. We realise how lucky we have been as there does not seem a week that goes by where we read of the death of a child as a result of contracting meningitis.
