Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
The Palace-to-Palace Cycle Ride is a 45 mile journey from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle, taking in various "famous and picturesque spots" on the way. I had assumed this might include the Saints lorry depot at the M4/M25 junction, the wonders of Datchet Reservoir, and maybe the Colnbrook Industrial Estate, and I wasn't far wrong - check out the GPS trace here - I'm the blue line.
The ride took me 3hrs 15m, which is quite good going really, about 13.7 mph!! That's faster than I often do a 20m ride on a Sunday - largely due to the assistance of others who towed me along very nicely thanks. And it didn't rain all that much, really. The last 30 minutes were pretty hard going, my legs were cramping up and I was battling a slight headwind - never been so pleased to see a sign saying "Long Walk Ahead" (referring to the Windsor Castle driveway...). And Dame Kelly Holmes is very sweet and patient, even if she is horribly fit and completed in under 2 hours! UPDATE: It says here she did it in 3hrs 35m, so marks to me! FURTHER UPDATE: They changed that page to read 2hrs 35m - darn it. Gonna have to try harder next year...
SO, please give generously, the Prince's Trust does a great job for people who lives would otherwise take a very different direction.
Apparently, donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure - at least, I've always been relieved of my cash relatively painlessly. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Prince's Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
