Story
Yes, I have committed to cycling about 500km in 4 days next June... So if you don't see me for the next 6 months it's because I'm locked away on my exercise bike trying to get fit enough to do it...
So, why am I doing it? Apart from a very good reason to get fit, I'm raising money for this fantastic charity, Children Today. They give grants for specialised equipment for disabled children and I've seen myself how much difference this can make. I met a boy called Luke who has a new electric wheelchair which has literally changed not just his life but also his family's in giving him independence and new capabilities.
This is a letter from Luke:
"My name is Luke and I am 8. I am very excited because I am getting a new wheelchair that will help me and my family have a much better life. I will be able to go out more easily with my friends and not have to be taken everywhere so I can't wait for it to arrive. I have Cerebral Palsy which is why I need this wheelchair and I know there are lots of other children who have disabilities who need equipment like this. I would like to say thank you to the charity which helped me to get my chair, Children Today, and to the people who gave them money to buy it."
Why £1500? Well the current average grant is around £750 so if I can raise £1500 I can change two more children's lives for the better, and that has to be worth the pain...
