Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My name is Glenn Murphy and together with my 2 brothers Sean and Nicholas Murphy we have set this page up in memory of our Dad John James Murphy who passed away on 6th June 2010.

Our Dads funeral will be held at St Philip Neri's Catholic Church in Sydenham, London on Friday 18th June at 9.30am.

About John (Sean) James Murphy

For those of you who knew our Dad know that he was very loyal, hard worker, had an excellent sense of humor, was generous, disliked bullies, loved Tottenham Hotspur F.C, loved Music (particularly David Bowie) & Tennis (particularly John McEnroe).  I think it is fair to say his best years were before around 2003 and I hope people remember him in his better years and not those where drink and drugs had taken its toll on him both mentally and physically. He was an amazing father to us for a long time and those are the memories we will keep in the future.

We have chosen The Nelson Trust as the Charity that we would like people to donate to. We are hoping people will donate to The Nelson Trust rather than buy flowers at the funeral so the Trust are able to continue helping those with alcohol and drug addiction.

About the Charity

The Nelson Trust provides residential treatment, care and support for people with complex drug and alcohol addictions. It provides aftercare, supports addicts' families and is developing a preventative programme for young people. Treatment is abstinence based, supporting people to full recovery and independent living through therapeutic and education, training & employment programmes.

Our Dad attended The Nelson Trust some years ago for help and support with his alcohol and drug problems. He really appreciated the help that the Trust gave him and always spoke very highly of the staff who also provided our family with excellent support at a really difficult time.

There is no money target for this page and we are still going through tough economic times so just give whatever you can no matter how small in memory of John (Sean) James Murphy Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
