Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Me and my boy, 8 months ago this picture I thought would never be possible
Samuel was diagnosed, in a 23 week ante-natal scan, as having Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). He went through two open heart surgeries, the first one was 12 hours and unfortunately a failure resulting in him been resuscitated twice as Pulmonary Hypertension caused major complications. After weeks on intensive care and a brief visit home he was back in for a second heart operation lasting 18 hours and what turned out to be a miracle his arteries were switched. He spent a total 7 months in hospital and was what I can only describe as hell.
We are eternally grateful to the brilliance and dedication of the surgeon, doctors and nurses at Leeds General Infirmary. But also to the support the CHSF gives to patients and their families through a time which is scary, heartbreaking and exhausting for all concerned.
This is my opportunity to give some thing back by doing the Great North Run. As you can see from the picture I am not built for running any sort of distance let alone 13.1 miles. The big thing pushing and dragging me through my training and what will do the same on the day is seeing my Wife, Samuel and his big sister at the finish line cheering me on.
Please sponsor me to do the Great North Run so I can raise much needed funds to help babies, children and families going through similar scary, life and death surgery.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for your donation.
