My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I would like to thank all those people who have sponsored me and supported me particularly my partner Jenny .

I completed the swim and the bike legs but my right knee swelled up to the the size of a  melon during the bike ride.

I tried to do the run but the pain was such that i could only walk and therefore retired after a third of the distance as the orginisers have timed cutoffs.

I will return next year with a fixed knee to complete the job,but you can still contribute now.

In 1982 a task force left Britain to liberate the Falkland Islands and perhaps more importantly to allow the Falkland Islanders to choose their own government.

258 allied lives were lost during the conflict but many more people were affected by their part in the liberation of the Islands, post traumatic stress disorder is probably the best known mental affliction and many people still suffer from this and other illnesses.

I was a crew member of H.M.S. Glamorgan in 1982 and in this 25th anniversary year I am aiming to complete a full distance triathlon (ironman) to raise money for and awareness of the needs of the people who still suffer after all this time.

Combat Stress was set up in 1919 in the aftermath of the First World War and has since helped over 85,000 veterans cope with their suffering. There are currently over 7,000 people being helped by the charity and they have a background in any war, conflict or police action within living memory including over 700 from the Falklands.

The event takes place in Kalmar, Sweden on the 28th of July and consists of a 3.8km swim a 180km bike leg and finishes with a marathon.

Please help me to help those that helped others.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: COMBAT STRESS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
