Temwa is an organisation that raises funds to implement community-based projects in Malawi, southern Africa. Temwa is based in an area called Usisya, on the north shore of Lake Malawi. This remote area has no electricity, no running water and is severely affected by the AIDS epidemic. Due to poor road and telecommunications infrastructure, public services and other relief efforts are very limited. Overseen by a project Manager in Malawi, Temwa runs a series of programmes that are aimed at proving sustainable, community-driven development in four key areas: Health education, Skills development, Agriculture and irrigation and Schools support. In the future Temwa plans to establish similar schemes in other parts of Malawi.

My story

On the weekend of the 16th and 17th May I will be taking part in a Temwa sponsored cycle ride from Bristol to Devises and back! The route is roughly 80 miles, we will travel along the famous Bristol to Bath cycle path to join the Kennet and Avon Canal path all the way to Devises.

I'm pretty unfit at the moment, so it is going to be a challenge! Please sponsor me so that you will a) be giving me much needed encouragement & support and b) giving much needed funds to Temwa.

If you are on this page you are probably more than aware that Temwa is an organisation that Sophie Elson & myself founded in Malawi. We support communities in improving health education services, agriculture, forestry, irrigation, skills training, and schools.
