Raising money for Mission Care

Charity Registration No. 284967

Mission Care is a Christian charity that has been operating in South London for over 100 years, running homes that provide high quality residential and nursing care for the elderly frail, older people with mental health needs and other adults who have high support needs. <p> There are currently six homes that look after over 250 residents. Intermediate Care facilities are also provided in partnership with two local Primary Care Trusts. Each home aims to deliver high quality person-centered care, placing high importance to the dignity and respect of every individual resident. <p> As a Christian charity Mission Care aims to show the love of Jesus Christ through the delivery of care to those it is privileged to care for. <p> Mission Care also has a small but important international presence where it works with local partners in the developing world to help some of the most marginalised communities. Projects to date have included helping bring safe drinking water to rural communities, build orphanages and rehabilitation centres for street children as well as other medical and pastoral facilities.

On the 9 September 2009 I will setting off on a 300 mile bike ride from London to Paris in order to raise funds for Mission Care.

Day 1 Blackheath to Dover - 95 miles

Day 2 Calais to Abbeville - 75 miles

Day 3 Abbeville to Beauvais - 70 miles

Day 4 Beauvais to Paris - 60 miles

This is some 150 times further than my usual cycle ride to and from work!
