Update 22nd March 2010: Realised I had forgotten about this page and not updated it, sorry! I've been writing a blog during my time here so head over to joninchile.blogspot.com to read about everything, with photos and videos!
Update 14th Sept 2009: Finished 10 days of orientation at All Nations in Ware, which went really well - met some really nice people also doing Stride and of course the great Latin Link team! So, feeling more prepared now and excited to go. Goodbyes have been said to family and friends and now it's time to finish packing and fly out tomorrow evening! Will update again soon I hope.
--------------------------------------
I've set this page up as an easy way for people to find out about my plans to go away with Latin Link as well as help raise the money I need to go out to Latin America and serve. The money raised, together with money I earn, will go towards: living costs; travel requirements; visas; mentorship; orientation and all those other fun things. Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything and I will try and answer it!
I am going to be part of the Stride placement program which is tailored for individuals and can last from 6 months to 2 years. You can do lots of different things, for example:
So I'm flying out on 15th September to Buenos Aires first, where I will have some local orientation for around 5 days, before moving on to Santiago. I've been learning Spanish at home but I will have lessons when I'm out there - I'll need them as Chilean Spanish is meant to be quite hard!
I'll update this page with more info when I know it and I'll even try and add some photos and maybe videos to the site once I'm out in Chile :-)
By the way, donating through JustGiving is the best way to sponsor me as it's quick, easy and secure. PLUS, Latin Link gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, JustGiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Bonus.
Please do sponsor me! Thank you for all your support!!

I'm going to go to Chile and work with World Vision in Santiago where I will be checking up on sponsored children in families in very poor districts (are they eating OK and going to school etc.), helping run various workshops for the children in the World Vision 'PDA' centre and helping with educational talks on topics such as general health, sexual health, addictions, abuse, values etc. Sounds exciting, challenging and a good project to be attached to!
