Story
Hey guys!
Well I did it! 4 hours, 1 minute and 53 seconds. It was much harder than I ever imagined, and I was just glad to have finished by the end. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day in London - great weather for watching marathons so I'm told! Never again? - well if they let me in again next year...
I have been using the marathon as an opportunity to help raise some cash for, and promote the excellent work of, the George House Trust; a local charity whose work is close to my heart. We're still eager to accept further donations!
George House Trust’s central aim is: To promote the best quality of life for people living with or affected by HIV in the North West.
The needs of HIV positive people have changed dramatically across the last 23 years, yet GHT continue to respond to changes in the epidemic, and develop their service provision to meet these changing needs. Despite the development of new treatments that have dramatically increased life expectancy and quality of life, life for a HIV positive person is far from straightforward. GHT services have been developed to support all aspects of a person’s HIV status, from support on diagnosis to meeting others in a similar situation.
More than two decades into the epidemic, people living with HIV are still abused, still treated unfairly, and still face situations where people cannot be open about HIV status for fear of persecution. GHT therefore continue to campaign for a change in attitudes towards people living with HIV, supporting national policy work and providing regional campaigns and information sessions.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: George House Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Every little counts!
Cheers,
Jono
