Our personal message:

Dear Friends and supporters

I DID IT!

I ran the Edinburgh Marathon on 25th May 2008 (all 26.2 miles) to raise much-needed funds for the Birth Resource Centre. Well okay I did walk for about 10 minutes but I think that's probably okay as the whole thing took 4 hours 45 minutes. I don't have any momentous picture of crossing the line as I had to sit down for 20 minutes and eat and didn't think of such things.

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated and a a big appeal for any further donations as this website will close in a month or so.

As many of you know I have been involved with the BRC since I was pregnant with Luke back in 2003. I attended the centre for Yoga for Pregnancy classes and Graham, Cat and I went along to a Preparing for Birth workshop. All of this helped to keep me well and relaxed throughout my pregnancy and birthing. The Birth Resource Centre supports women and their families throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. This is a time of transition, growth and sometimes of great difficulty. The BRC is so much more than a centre where classes happen every week. It is a space where women and their families feel respected and supported. It is a community where information and experiences are shared. It is a place where, I believe, the well-being of the family is of the utmost importance. The BRC wishes to support everyone to experience this time with confidence and dignity.

The BRC is a small, not-for-profit charity and finds funding hard to come by. The money raised will continue the good work at the centre as well as enable the BRC to offer its resources to women and families who might not normally access them.

THANK YOU again

Jo
