Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been saving up to summit Kilimanjaro for the past year and a half, it is something i have wanted to do for a very long time so i am really excited about finally being able to do it next month. So, i was thinking, why not make it even more worthwhile by doing it for a charity. I have already paid for my whole trip and this website is a direct link to the charity so anything that you give goes straight to the charity. It all adds up so even if you are only able to spare a couple of quid it all adds up and is going to a really good cause.
You have probably all heard of
the charity I am going to be using Willen Hospice, it is a locally
based charity over at Willen lake. This charity provides specialist
care for people with life limiting illnesses who no longer respond to
curative treatment and support for their families. They provide carers
to help support the patient at home as well as providing a hospice at
Willen lake for the patients to be as comfortable as possible. I found
it very hard choosing a charity as there are so many but i think that
this is a very just cause and i am extremely thankful for the amazing
work that they do there.
I leave England on the 5th of Feb
this year and arrive in Nairobi on the 6th where i will be staying
overnight and then travelling to Tanzania by coach. I arrive in
Tanzania on the 7th where i will stay overnight before starting my
trek. I will be summitting Kilimanjaro on the 14th, so valentines day,
on summit day we start walking at 1am and reach the 'roof of Africa' at
sunrise. I will be arriving home on the evening of the 17th and then i
will be sleeping until the end of the month ;D.
Kilimanjaro
is the largest freestanding mountain in the world at 5895metres so 19
340 feet. It is the highest peak in Africa. If anyone is interested in
doing a trek either of Kilimanjaro, Denali (ALASKA), Mt Elbrus
(RUSSIA), Mt Everest base camp (NEPAL), Aconcagua (ARGENTINA) etc the
company who i went through is called Adventure Alternative and they
have been extremely helpful in helping me prepare for my trip and
answering any questions i have.
