About Jo's Trust

Jo’s Trust seeks to inform and help women of all ages to understand the causes of cervical cancer and how it can beaten.

It also wishes to ensure women understand the importance of having a regular cervical smear test.

Jo’s Trust campaigns on issues that will significantly reduce the number of deaths from this disease in the UK as well as contribute to the prevention of cervical cancer worldwide.

It continues to put pressure on the Government to ensure new diagnostic techniques and treatments are made available throughout the UK.

Our history

James Maxwell, a London businessman established Jo’s Trust following the death of his wife, Jo, aged just 40 from cervical cancer in May 1999. 

During the five years of Jo’s illness both she and James experienced frustration at the lack of good information available about cervical cancer, particularly on the Internet.

James’s reason for building a website dedicated to cervical cancer was to inform and educate people about the disease as well as provide a forum through which they could receive expert medical advice and communicate with each other.
