Story
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Here's Tony (with Fay) in the summer of 2003. He was the fittest man I knew, always out running, cycling, walking, ate all the right things, laughed and loved.
Four years later he was a patient on Ward 8 at the RVI Newcastle, having been diagnosed with cancer (Burkitt's Lymphoma) in May 2007. Everyone said, "No, not Tony" and then, "don't worry, he'll be alright, he's so strong and healthy". They were wrong. Sadly, Tony died on 25 November 2007 and we miss him terribly.
Tony made it his life's work helping others. We can't bring him back but we can let his work continue a little longer by raising money for the cancer patient comfort fund which provides much needed non-NHS extras to ease the suffering of cancer patients and their families.
Some of Tony's friends did the Coast to Coast bike ride to help raise money. Thank you so much to them - it was a fitting tribute to Tony, who loved nothing more than being out on his bike in the countryside. More recently, Pippa and Andy collected donations for the fund at their wedding party - I am humbled by their generosity on such a special day for them - thank you.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor: Newcastle Healthcare Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
Judith
