Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My gran, Barbara Graham was diagnosed with breast cancer 5years ago at the age of 54, she battled the condition accepting various forms of treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, this for her was an extremely hard battle but she seemed strong and got through it. Just when things seemed to be looking up and she was beginning to get back to her normal ways at the age of 57 she was diagnosed with secondary cancer, bone cancer and it had been found in her spine. She had declared after her primary cancer she would not accept treatment if it returned, this unfortunatly happened and she went against her word, accepting nearly every form of treatment availble to help her fight this condition, although she had been informed it was terminal. For the first year after her diagnosis it didnt seem to be effecting her in any way however, the last year we ( close family members) have watched her decline, various trips to hospital for bone strengthening treatments, treatments to lower calcium levels and many blood transfusions. Doctors changed her treatments on a number of occasions but nothing seemed to be working and very quickly doctors had recognised that there was no other treatments that could be offered to her. About a month ago she was admitted to hospital for her calcium levels in which she rapidly declined and after two weeks in hospital was then taken to St. Clare's Hospice in which she stayed for 4days, by this point she was unable to mobilise, eat/drink, speak to great extents and had became very confused and aggitated. The nurses at the hospice were able to attend to her every needs and allowed us ( her family ) to be with her every moment of the day and night. The time came where we were informed she had days if not hours to live, our very large family were all informed and were able to be with her every step of the way. She died peacefully in St. Clares' Hospice on Monday 14th September 2009 with all family around her bedside.

All the way through her battle with this awful condition she showed great bravery and never once complained or got upset, she was a much loved daughter, mother, gran, sister, auntie and friend, we are all truely heartbroken to have lost such a wonderful and caring person. Although we will sadly miss her we are relieved that she will no more have to contend and suffer with this condition any longer.

We are very grateful for all the care and support that St. Clare's Hospice provided for both my Gran and our family throught his very tough time. St. Clare's Hospice is a charitable organisation and relies solely on donations and contributions from others therefore i have set up this page to hopefully raise some funds to help this organisation to continue with the fabulous work they do for both patients and their families.
