Thanks for logging on to my site. I wanted to run the London Marathon to raise money for a charity that really means something to me, and Gingerbread does.

In the 70s, my Dad took my sister and I to our local Gingerbread group, where we had fun and made friends while my Dad received invaluable support.

Now, as I stagger along Brighton’s windswept cliff-tops on Sunday mornings the thought of being Gingerbread’s first ever marathon-running fundraiser keeps me jogging on towards the start line on April 23rd.

Gingerbread does brilliant and unique work: it allows lone parent families to come together through over 200 self-help groups across the UK. It helps counter the effects of childhood poverty by organising holidays and outings, ensuring children aren’t excluded from activities and opportunities. And it runs the country’s only free phone help service for lone parents.

Please help me say a massive, belated, thanks to Gingerbread by sponsoring my first ever marathon effort. The money raised will allow lone parent families to continue benefitting from the charity's important, and often over-looked, work.
