The Fernhurst Centre, St. Richard's Hospital, Chichester West Sussex
As some of you may know my friend Josie lost her long fight against breast cancer on 26th December 2007.
It had been my privilige to give Josie some pampering treatments and after she died I decided that I would like to raise money toward the new Cancer Day Unit, the Fernhurst Centre which is currently under construction at St. Richard's Hospital.
I have wanted to walk Ben Nevis in Scotland (4,406 ft) for some time and thought that it would be a challenge and a way of raising funds for the unit.
Josie's sister, Trish and I have been walking on the South Downs each Saturday since March in preparation for this challenge, we have laughed a lot and cried, we have had so much mud on our boots that it was difficult to lift our feet, but surprisingly enough it has only rained on us twice and we have enjoyed each experience.
The Fernhurst Centre will improve the quality of care locally, provide faster access to services, increase the number of patients receiving local day care instead of having to travel miles to Portsmouth or Brighton . It will improve diagnostic services for patients with suspected cancer. We all know or have known or will know someone who has been struck with this terrible disease.
So please dig deep into your pockets or your debit card, any small amount will be appreciated. Weather permitting this event is to take place on 25th September 2008.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Richard's Hospital Charitable Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
