Story

The Jungle Marathon is a race that consists of 200km on foot through the Amazon Jungle, in searing heat and suffocating humidity. It is entered by only seventy people per year and represents the ultimate test of physical endurance and mental strength. The ground covered includes, swamps, rivers, and mile upon mile of incredibly steep hills and gorges all covered by plant and wildlife you would normally associate with primary Jungle. One section of the race requires the non stop completion of 92km (over two marathons back to back) in an  area infested by jaguar and  known locally as the “Dark Zone”.

Darren Clawson, Nick Trainell and Arron Worbey will compete in the 2009 race to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

For those of you who have never had any contact with Great Ormond Street Hospital it will be difficult to explain exactly what it represents to families with seriously ill children.

This is the place our children go when no one else can help, and is the only hope for thousands of families. More often than not G.O.S.H saves a life or makes it worth living when all appears lost. The money donated on this site will go towards reducing a waiting list for the Ketogenic diet which can prevent brain damage and even cure some children that can suffer over 100 fits every single day.

I know what its like to have a child on that list, hoping and praying that he will be next whilst you watch them suffer. No parent should ever have to go through that.

So, help us to help them, by clicking on the sponsor us now button below and donating.

All sponsorship monies and donations raised through this event will benefit the Ketogenic Diet Research Fund, which is a Special Purpose Fund of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
