STOP (Trafficking UK) is a new charity working to support trafficked people and raise awareness of the urgent problem of modern day slavery in the UK. STOP will work to co ordinate the efforts of existing organisations, helping to ensure that victims of trafficking can access services that are appropriate to their needs. These services include (but are not limited to) access to safe housing, medical assistance, legal advice and victim witness co-ordination.
Thank you for taking an interest and supporting the London - San Sebastian Bikeathalon.This event is in support of three separate causes that are all very close to my heart;
- STOP (Trafficking UK) - Wellchild - The Countess of Brecknock Hospice
I hope you can find a way to “dig deep” and help support these extremely worthy charities.
So what is the Bikeathalon all about? Well, it is 2 challenging events. Firstly it will involve running the London Marathon on April 26th 2009 with my good friend and business partner, Stacy Seaberg. Then, on 13th June 2009 my old friend, Hugo Chelton and I, will set off on a serious challenge – biking from Andover (Hampshire) to San Sebastian in Spain.
Covering almost 1,000 miles our route will take us to Folkestone - Calais, across Northern France heading to the West Coast all the way down to San Sebastian aiming to finish on 27th June 2009.For two blokes who have only ever cycled to the local pub, this should be an extreme challenge (mostly for our rears)!We are hoping for support along the way including friends who have kindly volunteered to do certain “legs” to assist with morale.Our plan is to try and achieve 85 miles a day, with one day off for rest.I will be writing a “blog” each day on this journey and once you have kindly donated you will receive a daily newsletter detailing our progress through the UK, France and Spain.Don’t worry I will try and spare you the details of any particularly sore areas!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me. My chosen charities get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
A serious 'mid-life crisis. A roll in the hay would be rather easier physically; however, potentially a much more painful divorce settlement to raise!Donation by Hugo Jacobs
