The Year of Readers is a great project and one I really want to support. To quote them:

"It’s an easy concept (which is probably why I thought of it). You pick a literary charity that you want to support in 2009. You sign up to be part of The Year of Readers, get people to sponsor you and just start reading whatever you like. If you’re going to read next year why not join and help a bookish charity at the same time?"

So, that's what I want to do! I will try to read even more in 2009 and I would ask you to sponsor me. You can chose to sponsor me by paying once, or you can give me money for each book that I finish. Or each book that I finish that you read too. Or that I made you want to read.

In short, you decide how you sponsor me.

When I say, you sponsor me, it doesn't mean that I actually get any of the money. No, everything you chose to give will go to the African Prisons Project. [For more information, see the sidebar.]

For your information, I set the fundraising target at a not overly ambitious (I think) 100 £. I figured that I will read about 50 books next year and that I can maybe find 2 persons who want to sponsor me with 1 £ per book each (mom?). That would be great. If you want to give more, even better.

I will update you here with a complete list of all the books I read in 2009. For more information on me and the books I read, please go visit my blog. There, you will also have the possibility to leave me your mail address or other contact info and in return, you'll get a monthly update.
