Story
Thanks to you all for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Because of you I have reached my target and can go on and try to further it . I am amazed that so many of you have helped - thanks!!
I am running the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon on September 13th 2009. This is my first lengthy run and although I have been training hard, I am sure it will be hard work on the day.
As parents, we continuously worry about our children and hope and pray that we will never be told the awful news that they have cancer.
In April this year, my cousin's family lost their brave little boy to cancer. He was just 9 years old. Having a son the same age, it has encouraged me to help to raise money to ensure that other families in a similar situation will receive the ongoing help and support they need.
My initial aim to raise £280 for CLIC Sargent (charity no 1107328) has been met. How great it would be to let my cousin know that we have reached the target and more! Every 48 hours, 10 children are diagnosed with cancer or leukemia. CLIC Sargent acts as a lifeline keeping families together when the unimaginable happens. The charity provides clinical, psycological, emotional and financial care and support to them and their families. £280 will acomodate a family at a CLIC Sargent Home from Home for 10 days. Here they can stay together within walking distance of the hospital where their child is being treated, which is often many miles from their own home.
