Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
As some of you may know, our son Joseph has Perthes Disease and required surgery some weeks ago. Thankfully, the operation went well and he is getting on with his everyday life.
This week, for the first time in months, he was allowed to walk without his walking frame. It was like watching his first steps all over again! A memorable moment! The operation wasn't to make him 'better' but to prepare him for the next phases of the condition. Basically, his left ball and socket joint is weakened and the ball part is crumbling. The surgery involved putting a bone graft to support the socket for when the ball starts 'squishing out'!!! Watch this space for the updates!
Anyhow, the Perthes Association supports the patients and their families with advice/equipment etc, so both of us have decided to do something neither of us have ever done. We're doing a 10k run to raise funds for them. Not any 10k run though, the British 10k Run in London! Yes, we are mad.
Both of us are in training, and nearly dying after 5 minutes of running, we will do it though - but this is where you come in...
The credit crunch is upon us and we know pockets are not as deep as we all would like, however, we would appreciate your support no matter how little. As mentioned, we've never done anything like this and probably won't do again (after those cold runs training in the dark!) so please do help us, to help them, to help kids like Joseph.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: PERTHES ASSOCIATION gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So, thanks for reading all of this and please sponsor us now!
