Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I was 37 when I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July 2008. A second round of surgery the following month revealed the cancer had metastasised (spread) to a lymph node in my armpit. My doctor laid out his plans for me, but wasn't able to offer any very encouraging statistics for what are extremely gruelling treatments.I immediately embarked on a crash course to learn everything(!) I could about my type of breast cancer and the various treatments available. I found other approaches that look more hopeful and that are more in line with my philosophy of health and approach to life.
Since November 2008 I’ve been on a rigorous detox and supplement programme (which takes up about five hours each day) and a strict diet - dairy, meat, sugar, alcohol and yeast free. The programme is boosting my immune system, detoxifying and alkalising my body, and making my body cancer unfriendly. I generally feel healthy and well, and have continued to work as much possible, whilst learning to take care and nurture myself. Alongside the programme, I also do a mixture of things that I feel support me each day – such as Qi Gong, yoga, stretching, meditation, running or brisk walking.
To date (December 2009), my treatment (unavailable on the NHS) has cost over £20000, and currently costs about £900-£1000 a month for supplements. I’ve borrowed as much money as I can. This is the reason I’m asking for your help. Please contribute what you can so that I can continue this approach that gives me most hope.
Thank you.
Update December 2009: I want to say a huge huge thank you to all of you who've shown your support - in so many wonderful ways, not just financial, but also love, encouragement and moral support, in sending healing, prayer...... My recent blood and urine test results show I'm definitely heading in the right direction - my blood looks much much better - nice round cells - I've seen it on the microscope! It seems however, I need to be patient as my doctor is still advising I stick to an updated detox and supplement programme until further tests in the New Year. I'm still totally committed to the approach I've chosen - I call it the 'gentle way', working as much as possible with my body. This also involves 'slowing down(!)', meditation, relaxation, yoga and gentle exercise.I’ve come to strongly believe that the power of the mind is fundamental in any approach. I have to believe in what I’m doing – otherwise it wouldn’t be worth doing it. I believe as individuals we should have a choice as to what treatments we choose. When we listen to ourselves, trust our intuition and stay true to ourselves, we do have a number of answers that guide us. And when we make empowered choices it's so much easier for us to take responsibility for ourselves. My thoughts could apply to almost any challenge in life. As a result of my ‘cancer adventure’, I, along with an amazing group of talented and much loved friends, have just recently set up www.choiceability.org. We are dedicated to supporting choice from an individual to a global level, for the purpose of fostering greater alignment, aliveness, connection and positive energy throughout the world.
