My story

Endometriosis isnt something everyone has heard of but is something I've been living with for over 20 years. The support from endometriosis UK to myself and other women has been great and often a lifeline just being able to talk to someone else who understands first hand what you're going through.

I returned to running last year and decided to do the Great North Run, I was really lucky to get a ballot place so I am able to raise some money for the society to help them continue with their great work.  I am also hoping to do the Blaydon Race (5.7miles) on June 9th but this will depend on my post op recovery as I am unfortunately having another operation in April, as the dreaded E chose this year to return to haunt me.

Further Notes:

10th June - I had my op and although things havent improved much I managed to do the Blaydon Race, a bit slower that I would have liked but I finished in 65mins.  I now need to get some serious training in for the GNR!

1st Sept - Its now under 1 month to go..... training has been a bit slow but I'm getting there.  I'm back at running club and the support from everyone there is great so thanks guys.

2nd Sept - I decided to have a go at another race which I did today, it was a 10k (+ a bit!) and very tough going I hadnt expected quite so many hills..... however, I finished it a bit slow, due to various issues on the day, in 73min.

1st October - Mission accomplished.... I completed the GNR in 2h 25m which I am very pleased with, it was rather hard going esp around 10mile point it was a bit too hot for my liking but the crowds were amazing and kept us going and my running partner was a star - thanks mate.  Will I do it again?  at the time it was 'no thats it ' but now there is a chance I possibly will :)

My parents & their friends held a rock n roll event to raise money for Endo UK, they have done this twice in the past and each time it has been a great night. This year we raised £237 so a very big thank you to all concerned especially George who organised the night.

Thanks so much to all of you who have sponsored me it really is appreciated, and the support from everyone has been great.  Thanks again.
