For over 30 years, the Family Holiday Association has been working to provide short breaks for the most needy families in our community. The FHA help families in desperate circumstances: those dealing with disability, bereavement, poverty, mental health problems, inadequate housing, or abuse. The chance to enjoy a break away from the stresses of daily life is something that many of us take for granted, but thousands of UK children have never had the chance to experience the joy of a holiday. Typically, a family granted an FHA break spends a week staying in the FHAs caravans in a UK seaside town - hopefully when it's good weather! These simple holidays can help strengthen relationships within the family and give family members a fresh perspective, providing them with the motivation to make positive changes to their lives. "£1,000 helps the FHA send 2 families away on a holiday". On February 24th 2008, I will be taking part in a half marathon, in Malta, in order to raise money for this worthy cause. I have just realised that there are hills in Malta - but that won't deter me. If you would like to make a donation, however large or small, you can donate through this site.
