Hello!
To celebrate my birthday in 2009 I am going to run the Barcelona Marathon; having once struggled to manage the 10k hash in Kampala this is nothing short of a miracle. Training in sub zero temperatures has been jolly; I believe this is an experience not soon to be repeated!
I am going to run the marathon on behalf of the Suubi Trust and its work to provide healthcare to people affected by the war in northern Uganda.
You might remember the stories I told of 12 year old Christine who I met in Lira just after she had seen her family killed by LRA rebels and been set alight herself; the Suubi Trust funds a clinic in her area. Most people in Lira simply cannot afford to pay the fees required to access healthcare. The clinic can provide care to 200 charity patients each month at a cost of about £7.50 each.
This is a cause that I am happy to run for and any donation you make to support it will be greatly appreciated.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Suubi Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please sponsor me - and do feel free to forward my page to the uncrunched/those who love Uganda!
Many thanks
Karisia
